Sixx, whose real name is Franklin Feranna, said in the lawsuit filed Tuesday that the defendants used photographs of him with pro skater Tony Trujillo at a San Francisco ceremony organized by Thrasher magazine and sponsored by Vans. Sixx sued a skateboarding magazine and the Vans shoe company for allegedly using his image in an ad without his permission. "With me and the guys in Motley Crue, we've been standing up for our rights and hopefully we're standing up for other people's rights too." "Mostly you find that people just let it go," Sixx said. Sixx said he had no choice but to sue, and not just for his own image. They weren't really happening kicks even back then (and neither was Motley Crue). Last time I thought about Vans was 16 years ago, when Nikki Sixx won an embarrassing two-year million-dollar lawsuit against them for image theft.
